Letter from Buchenwald concentration camp, written on April 5, 1940, by Wlasislaw Gomolla to his family

My dears, I am in good health, and I wish the same for you. I received letters from you and Johann, money twice, up to 15 Reichsmark, for which I am grateful. I appreciate the birthday wishes from all of you and keep you in my thoughts every day, especially the brothers serving on the front lines. Brother Johann, thank you so much for the well wishes. I wish you well and send my prayers for your safety. Since Ludwig helped you with the work and you wrote that he was on holiday, I am delighted for him, but he ought to write to me more frequently. Please let me know where Dominik is right now. I was aware that he was on vacation. Mother, I want to express my gratitude for all your well wishes for us all. God grant us health, until we can all reunite and live as one big happy family. I send my love to both of you sisters, and to Martha, I wish health for you and ask you to assist out at home, especially with our mother. What is the son of the Noll family, Fabian, doing? Best regards to the Wienk family. Also, will the butcher come to you? I thank my sister-in-law Bronislawa for everything. Greetings to Agnes, the Wrass family and everyone there. Your Son,
