Letter written on December 1, 1940, postmarked on the 7th, by Heinrich Dawicki, age 33, to his parents in Lodz, Poland from Dachau

Dear parents, As of now I am healthy and happy, and I hope the same of you dear ones. I received a letter from you with gratitude, also money, 12, 15, and 10 Reichsmarks. Dear parents, I’m curious regarding what’s new with you, whether you are in good health? Dear sister Marysin, and you dear Janek, and your little Terenia, are you all in good health? Janek is likely working where he always was. What are your parents and siblings up to, are they all in good health, and are they at home? Is Mrs. Mastawska at our place? Is she going to cousin K. to Kulgauska in my interest? Dear father and you, precious mother, please go to Mr. Freitag and write regarding my wares. Dear father, go to the barber on Kokizinska Street 54(65) and get my razor from there. Many greetings and a thousand kisses to all the relatives and acquaintances.

Geht sie in meinem Interesse zu Cousin K. nach Kulgauska[?]? Lieber Vater und du, liebe Mutter, geh bitte zu Herrn Freitag und schreibe mir wegen meiner Ware.
