Postcard written and postmarked on June 28, 1938 by Else and Rita from Bonn, Germany to their father and Wilhelm Seifert in Aschendorfermoor camp

Dear Wilhelm and Dad! I’m sorry, this is the first available card that we found. We went to the photographer yesterday and had a passport photo done for Rita. She needs to put one on the foreign country list that she needs to submit. This week we are very busy with the preparations for the homeland festival. We celebrate twice actually because of Dad’s birthday. Rita has already told her grandpa that she wants to buy him a new purse since his old one got torn. The little she-devil pesters me every day to go to the baths, but mom doesn’t have time for this. I often put her off until next year when Dad is here. Warmest regards from Else and Rita

Mein lieber Wilhelm u Vati! Entschuldige, wir nehmen gleich die erste beste Karte die uns in die Hände kommt. Gestern waren wir beim Photograph, haben für Rita Paßbild machen lassen. Sie braucht eins auf die auslandsliste die eingeschickt werden muß. Diese Woche wird tüchtig vorbereitet fürs Heimatfest. Bei uns ist gleich doppeltes Fest, Vaters Geburtstag. Rita hat ihrem Opa schon verraten, daß sie ihm ein Portnee kaufen will weil seins verrissen ist. Jeden Tag plagt mich der kl. Geist sie möchte ins Bad gehen u. d. Mutti hat dazu aber auch gar keine Hilfe. Ich vertröste sie oft auf nächstes Jahr, wenn der Vati da ist. Mit d. herzl. Grüßen d. Else u. Rita
